HAVE YOU EVER REALLY LOOKED
INTO A POET'S HEART
FROM THE TIME WHEN HE BEGIN
FROM THE VERY START?
DID YOU EVER QUIETLY MEASURE
EVERY THOUGHT HIS MIND DID THINK
AND EVERY FEELING DID YOU
GO THERE TO QUIETLY DRINK?
DID YOU REFLECT UPOM SOME PART
OF YOUR OWN VERY SOUL
THAT THE POET'S HEART REACHED OUT TO YOU
TO MAKE YOU FEEL WHOLE?
DID SOME SMALL TRICKLE, JUST A DROP
OF A TEAR CARESS YOUR CHEEK
AND WASH DUST FROM A MEMORY
THAT YOUR LIPS CAN NO LONGER SPEAK?
DID YOU LONG ONCE MORE FOR HAPPINESS
YOU KNEW YOU'D NEVER FIND
BUT THEN THE POET'S HEART
MADE YOUR EYES OF PAIN GO BLIND?
DID YOU BREATHE A LITTLE DEEPER
AND A COURAGE COME TO DEPART
A TOUCH OF GOD UPON YOUR SOUL
