DESTINATIONS - From There To Here and Here To There
Other Times
Tired, trembling fingers
Of one who had used them
Lovingly
And gently
Even when pointed and shaken
To gather the attention
Of the impish little boy and girl
Once upon a time underfoot
Now reached inside her box of treasures
To contents placed perfectly
"Just so".
Aged, shaking hands
That had touched Life
And Death
And would one day reach out in their own
Last grasp
To God and Infinity
Lifted from its sacred place
The precious yellowed object she clutched
Ever so tightly.
Weary, lonely eyes
Which had seen so much
In the years
Of the good, the bad, the ugly
That being Human
And imperfect
And impatient
Yet, immovable
In Faith, courage, persistance of beliefs
That Love really is the answer
Slowly and acceptingly
Dripped silent tears upon her retrieved
Priceless possession.
A tender kiss and then
The old woman laid the fading photo
Of the smiling young lovers
Upon the pillow the old man once placed his head.
With a sigh so soft
The Angels only could hear
She snuggled beside it and closed her eyes.
