rhyme and treason
a poem about rats
a poem about rats
rats
rats in hats, rats who live in council flats
rats who shy from irksome cats
rats who slinker, slythe, and sly
rats who sniff the pepper sky
rats who scamper rats who romp
rats who chew and grind and chomp
rats
rats with beards and snuffle noses
rats with plaitts and scuffle toeses
rats beneath the ground we walk
rats who scheme and sneek and stalk
rats with whiskers rats with none
rats who sunbathe in the sun
rats who slither in your bed
rats are everywhere you tread
rats who skulk beneath your pillows
rats as big as armadillos
rats
rats who watch you while you snooze
rats who chew holes in your shoes
rats who nip your childrens feets
rats who pinch your childrens sweets
rats who breed and multiply
rats unseen, you pass them by
rats who raid your fridge by day
and run up bills they never pay
rats who live beneath your bed
or live behind your shelves instead
rats who hide in dark dark holes
rats who bully poor blind moles
rats with beady eyes of black
rats who cheek and answer back
rats who scratch, and snatch and stare
rats rats everywhere
rats
rats who live right here beside us
rats who gobble great big spiders
rats with wrinkles rats with fleas
rats who steal your stilton cheese
rats with teeth like vampire bats
rats who even scare tom cats
rats beneath our every street
rats who slyly watch our feet
rats who multiply and spread
rats will rule this earth we tread
rats with foot long scaley tales
rats who breed where poison fails
i repeat to get this in your head
rats will rule this earth we tread
for soon the rat race will arise
and take us humans by surprise
from sewers drains and holes they'll come
and rule the animal kingdom
for rats are tuff and know no fear
and they do not really want us here
as we speak a million more give birth
and one day rats will rule the earth
and even if the bomb should drop
the rat race it will never stop
for rats survive where humans fail
and so ends this rat infested tale.
