DESTINATIONS - From There To Here and Here To There
SOUTHERN SYMPHONY
Back and forth, forth and back
The old porch swing starts the cadence
Of the melody, in the hot summer night.
Creaking and groaning, groaning and creaking
The old rocker keeps in time
Adding its notes, singing its song.
Buzzing and humming, humming and buzzing
The insects move among the Jasmine and Gardenia
Blending their harmony, joining the Deep South choir.
Light and then dark, dark and then light
The yellow full moon plays peekaboo between the clouds
Until the stars beckon, and they all
Give their light for the night's performance.
Gently and softly, softly and gently
The warm, pleasing breeze tickles the leaves on the trees
So now they begin their Bayou dance
And the choreography goes on.
Silent then sounding, sounding then silent
The young owl on his Magnolia tree throne
And the old complaining dog in the distance
Lend their voices, to the eloquently building crescendo.
Soon the Midnight hour reclaims its place, as master conductor
When the human audience finally goes back to the reality
Of the inside artificial world
Till Dawn takes a bow and begins this night's
Symphony's end.
