REDBIRD DREAMSDo you dream, Redbird Of what do you dream? Do you dream of warm, comfy nests Or Redbird babies yet to come? Does God whisper in your ear Gently guiding you forth from your dreams Do you listen? Do you feel, Redbird Of what do you feel? Do you feel wonder at the majesty of the sky Or love for the beauty of the Earth below? Do you feel weariness of heart When you see what humans have done Do you weep for us? Do you think, Redbird Of what do you think? What is in your thoughts when you look at me And see me looking out at you? Do you try to consider what's behind my window That makes me look so very sad Do you wish you could help? Do you dream, Redbird? I hope you do Because if you dream, then maybe you can pray. You can pray for me I can pray for you. PAT REEVES (c)7/22/02 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
