For those who have loved and lost ,but had the courage to start overOn the day our hearts fell together, I knew we were meant to spend our lives with each other forever. With your laugh, your cry, your words so sincere, Our weeks with each other turned to months, then to years. Through school our friends were jealous of the love that we shared, And I had faith that I was the only one for which you cared. After graduation, I stayed east and you went west, And I knew that our college relationship was only a test Of the true love we shared, the true love we feared, And one winter break, that true love turned gears. For the first time I was ready to make our love last, But when I told him my plan, he turned quite aghast. He said he wasn't ready, that he wanted to wait, So he ran out the door steaming, and slammed the gate. Feeling deserted, unloved and lost, I cried and I cried, and his pictures I tossed. Soon I realized that being friends wasn't enough, and told him we should get back together, but that it would be tough. My proposal he rejected, to my question he said "No," Out of the door he walked again, and it was final he must go. The true love between us is now broken, another love is shattered, But I realize now, after all that pain, that our friendship was all that mattered.
