Backyard of My MindThere is a place within my mind A place were no one else can find The beauty of this lovely place Is something that can never be erased No hurt or pain or fear is there Just lots of love, joy and care The sky is always painted blue With rainbows in every color too Birds of every kind and size That sing so lovely as they fly by The land is full of the kindest things And sky has a moon that sings It's mystical and magical A place where fairies play I sit and watch Never having to run away If I should want a mountain there With snow upon the peaks I've but to close my eyes And in one sneaks With water falls of sparkle blue, Yellow, purple and lilac too I pick and choose the flowers And dwell there for hours There is no time or age you see For there is only me I am one, two or maybe three But no one knows or sees those with me The pain is deep, the heart is broken Is there no hope Without this place of beauty I see How could life ever be My only prayer is That someday, someone Would understand me or we Until someone comes I will drift to and fro In and out of this place we know Where is this place It's in the uttermost part of our minds A place where only some can find It's in the backyard of my heart and mind LUBAINA 10 APRIL 2004 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
