POETRY IN MOTION

Afterthoughts

AFTERTHOUGHTS

There is no grave, no grassy mound,
No stone that says your name,
They didn't pack you in a box
To go from whence you came.

But there's a spot that I know of
Where you share common ground
With flowers that blossom in the spring
And beauty can be found.

The sun still shines on you each day,
The moon beams through the trees,
And when the birds sing you can hear
Their music on the breeze.

Just where your soul went I don't know.
(I know that's all that mattered),
But all your earthly memories
Remain where you are scattered.

If you're on some celestial plain,
However far or near,
You must know to my simple mind
You're still with me right here.
