 meeting place

Meet me in a forest deep…
The one where a night we did sleep!
Take me back to that time alone,
When you and I were on our own!

Meet me in that leafy glen, where forest touches open fen
The sunlight striking floor in dappled light…
And darkness comes in endless night!

Meet me where we once did play,
As youngsters, with tomorrow another day!
For our future was a far off dream,
Wishful thinking lying beside the stream!

Meet me by that old oak tree…
Where you sat me upon your knee;
You held me close to chase away my fear,
It was so good to have you near.

Take me back to those childhood days,
When we were carefree, happy just to play;
But now we are grown, adult we are,
Too many worries to take us afar:

So take me back to meet you again,
To remember the time we were innocent,
 Without blame and maybe then Ill begin to see,
That without you I'll never be free!

For my heart yearns to meet you there,
So that we can be together and then;
Perhaps my heart will gladly soar…
Released at last from behind closed door!
