complaining spirit
Today I went on my site to see
If there was any feedback left for me
So you can imagine my astonishment to find
Someone had left me words unkind
I couldnt believe it,
What was I to do
The person had criticised my words
Well I just pretended I didnt care
But I felt a bit angry, resentful and hurt
That their words had been rather rude and curt
I went to check the offending poem to see
If it were true the words they had uttered to me
Imagine my surprise
The words they had expressed were true
So I immediately ammended the poem for you
Then I went to have a look at their site
Only a few poems they had to show
So that i couldn't really feel or know
What kind of person they were
Or whether I should even bother to care
No information about the person to be had
Nothing to say if they were happy or sad
But on reading their poems I began to see
That unhappiness was formost, their spirit was not free
My indignation left me as i realised
That here was a test for me
I decided not to give vent to anger in my head
I should leave words of wisdom instead
But that could be construed as too rude
So I would leave kind words to sooth
This person was hurting deep inside
And who was I to caused them more tears to cry
It would have been easy to retaliate
But that is not the Christian way to hate
So I chose my words so carefully
Hoping what I said would be taken cheerfully
Writing poetry is a funny thing it's true
Often the words, leave you empty and blue
Perhaps this person was feeling a bit down today
And just needed something to say
Some people dont always have nice things to say
They use words to destroy and slay
Well I was not going to do the same
I would not fall into that horrid game
So I would leave some kind words instead
Ones of inspiration and hope
With only thoughts of encouragment in my head
Inspire them to write more to help others instead
Godly wisdom helped me this day
I made me feel better when I left a message to say
I like your work, keep writing and expand your site
then perhaps it will make life happier and alright!
So folks if you get hurtful words said to you today
Turn it round, dont let it get in your way
Let your Christian spirit fly free
And do you best to help the person see.
