POETRY IN MOTION

Glad But Sad

GLAD BUT SAD

I love to sit and look at you.
                  It really is a shame
You're only ever goin to be
                  A picture in a frame.

That's what you are, a picture,
                  So pleasing on the eye,
                  So lovable, so cuddlable.
But you're not here. Oh, why?

I talk and tell your picture
                  How I love you so so much;
But you don't hear. Wish you were near
To just reach out and touch.

It's so nice how you smile at me,
And say things with your eyes -
                  But only from a photograph
That shares with me my sighs.

                  Your picture makes me happy
Then it make me really sad
It isn't you. It just won't do.
My God! I've got it bad.

You're there on show from head to toe,
                  And every inch a treasure.
And what I see is just to me
                  A promise of pure pleasure.

I need to feel you close to me,
I need to hold you tight
I need to know you love me too.
I want to know I'm right.

                  I need you three-dimensional,
                  Not someone in a snap.
So come to me and let me be
                  Once more a happy chap.

And should you read this bit of verse,
You must know that it's true.
                  Of course there'll be a punch-line
Which is - I'm in love with you.
