POETRY IN MOTION

Last Waltz

The last waltz started playing,
He had to take  the chance,
He walked up to her a table
And asked for a dance.

She said she'd be delighted,
Stood up and took his hand,
They walked on to the dance floor,
Sultry music played the band.

They moved with grace and splendour,
The lights they were turned low,
They held each other tightly
As they sallied to and fro.

Her hand was on his shoulder,
Her watch was on her wrist,
She noticed what the time was
As they did a quarter- twist.

"I must be home by 12" she said,
"My father's a strict man".
"Don't panic, Dear"  he said in her ear,
"I'm dancing as fast as I can".
