POETRY IN MOTION

Family Cat

She's curled up in much-needed sleep,
Her kittens by her side,
Each curled up small, a little ball,
By day their mother's pride.

They'll soon wake up, her peace will end,
Her dreams so soft and silk
And they'll be busy breaking fast
And lapping mother's milk.

Jostling, justling, nudging all,
Such things as manner past
To find a place and stake their claim,
The strong first, weakest last.

The smallest one, who needs it most,
Befuddled by the pace,
Must sit nearby and wonder why
It  hasn't got a place.

But soon they' all be satisfied,
Contented and filled up
And leave and waddle off to sleep
So she can have a sup.

The mother cat lies patiently
‘til all are fed and done,
Then stands and stretches, has a shake,
Her busy day begun.

And while they curl up once again
Where all day they will stay,
She'll be up and busy doing…….

What do cats do all day?
