Why is it so
That we can not be with the one we wish?
Why can we not spend hours in blissful pastimes
Time spent in seeking pleasures to fulfill
The spirit and the mind
Is it too much to ask?
This world was not meant to be kind
Instead we are trapped in a life of regulation
Only to do what is considered to be right
Always struggling with our conscience
A daily fight
Mustn't do this
And can't do that
For society has rules
And politeness of chat
Never can we follow our dreams
For something always stands in the way
Something and someone
Always comes to spoil the day
Conventions rules our waking thoughts
But it can't rule my nights
So I will live for dreams
Unreal to you though they seem
They are my only pleasure
They are things I treasure
For the freedom which they bring
It's something no one can measure
And I am the one in control
