Tomorrow, Love, I Might
Oh, I'm feeling so much better
And I don't miss all that pain!
There were times I really gave up hope
Of feeling well again.
I know they tried their hardest,
But I knew it had them beat;
I could see it in their faces -
An admission of defeat.
And I know I shared their feeling,
I could feel the curtain fall,
I knew we'd come up against
A bl**dy high brick wall
And the time had come to chuck it in
And say my final prayer.
I closed my eyes but suddenly
I felt somebody there.
I felt somebody take my hand,
I heard somebody say,
"There's a place for you in Heaven,
But you won't go there today.
Cos there's still a lot for you to do
That can't be overlooked
They're only saving you a place
In case it's fully booked.
So just you go to sleep now,
And tomorrow you will see
You'll be still live and kicking
And, I promise you, pain-free."
I don't know who she was, love,
Where she came, from where she went,
But, crikey, what I do know is
That what she said she meant.
And look at me! I'm sat up here
All fit and fresh and flighty -
What you see's a miracle
In an NHS Trust nightie!
I want to jump into your arms
And dance away the night,
But I'm still a wee bit tired -
Tomorrow, love, I might!
