Don't Forget to Turn Out the Light
A brand new baby brother!
On his first night home he slept
In his new cot in the nursery,
Where, excited still, she crept.
She switched the table lamp on
And stood there looking down
While he pulled new-baby faces,
A sort of smile, a sort of frown.
She fetched her favourite teddy
Which had never left her bed
And she laid it down beside him
On the pillow by his head.
And then she saw the shadow
Of her mum stood by her side,
But didn't move, for awe-struck,
She just stood there starry eyed.
And her mum said "While you're
watching him, I know he'll be alright,
Stay there a little longer. Don't
Forget - turn out the light"
