Heartless
Oh Lady!
What woe has overwhelmed you?
What misery condemns
You to deep inconsolation?
If happiness is so elusive
Then why does your soul
Reach out and crave
Behaviour less abusive?
Does your life not warrant
More pleasure in your heart
Do you not seek kindness?
A gentle caress upon your cheek?
Yet you hold yourself aloof
Separated from the world
You hide yourself away
In a frightened curl
You fear to step out and see
That love for you could be there
You are just too scared
To find that one person who cares
Enmesh your heart in steel
Hide yourself away
Because nothing will come to you
Whilst you shun love today!
