This Old Ornament

Given to me on my wedding day,
this old Christmas ornament,
scratched and faded from fifty
years of wear,
each year it’s hung
on the tree, with ever loving
care.

If this old ornament could speak,
a lifetime of stories it would relay,
of smiling faces, family love,
laughter and happens on
Christmas day.

This old ornament will continue to
hang on the tree until God wills to
wrap and store it for eternity.
