 A Topic Settled

A TOPIC SETTLED?
Well! You may well ask!
I realised I had left a topic
Stuck upon the shelf.

I took it and dusted it down
The thought was so battered and old
I didn't know if the story should
Be told

But the challenge was set
And it did have to be met
So I sat down and started to write
The story of my sister's plight

But I found I had so much to say
I had to it cut it short
So all that I wrote by the end of the day
Was a very terse report

It didn't give details
So what to do?
Well I don't know, that is why I'm
Asking you!

Do you think a story should be
Told in its entirety
Does it make it easier
To understand her pain

Do you need to know
Of a broken heart
Is there any point in reliving
It from the start

Is it of any use 26 years down the line
To speak of her love scorned
Making her wish she wouldn't
Have to live another day

It's purposeless now
After all these years
To dig out memories
Relive those tears

Would it bring her back
To tell you of her life
Would it solve the issue
Of a man who betrayed his wife?

I suppose in hindsight
You would say
My sister was too naïve
To understand man's greed

He had one but he wanted more
So he cheated on his wife
So he could live a false life
His lies came more and more

My sister gave her love to him
Presuming he would return the same
How could she even begin to know
His nasty little game?

But his game was thwarted from the start
‘Cos my sisters morals were strong
She refused to get into his bed
Though he wooed her ever so long

But then word got round the office
That this married man was playing around
My father was asked if he knew
That his daughter was involved too

Dad was shocked to the core
And tackled my sister at the front door
My sister was as shocked as he
But sadly she just couldn't see

This news broke her heart
She was destroyed, torn in two
Would it be any different
For me or you

That man had left her
He'd gone back to his wife
And my sister was left unknowing
To get on with her life

To realise you had been
Played for a fool
You had been used
Just like a cheap tool

A flighty affair
He had no intentions
Of leaving his wife
He wanted fun, he didn't care

But what made it worse
Was this must have been her curse
For this was the second time
Her man had been found out in his crime

Her boyfriend before this one
Had done just the same
Now what is it that makes men think
They can get away with this game

We women are not so stupid
To not see where they go
We know their little secrets and
The fact they don't know we know

So all you men out there
Who think you can play the field
Well let me warn you
We women can play too!

So watch your backs
‘Cos we women we know how to fight
We slink up behind you
And catch you on site

Don't think you can get away
With playing around
‘Cos if you are married
Then you stay in your own playground

My sister was stupid to give away her life
She was an idiot to die
Because a man chose
To play her as well as his wife

So all you ladies out there
Listen to my words
Don't be played for a fool
By men who use you as a playtool

They need to be stopped
These men who play around
We need to stop them in their tracks
And glue their b***cks  to the ground
