 Penniluck's legacy

Paradise Lost

No words can ever describe this horror, no painter paint the scene. I dedicate this attempt to all those who lost their lives in the Tsunami and all those who must go on.

On golden beaches lovers walked
Smiling tourists laughed and talked.
Surfers tipped the gurgling foam
Holidaying far from home.

Locals went about their day
Like people do in every way.
Nurses nursed, teachers taught
Cleaners cleaned and buyers bought.

No-one knew that in the deep
The earth was waking up from sleep.
The ocean floor was torn in two
Sucking all the water through.

Look! said people, tide`s gone out
What is that someone did shout.
Suddenly they heard a roar
Waves reached out and ate the shore.

Lost beneath those towering waves
Thousands died and few were saved.
Town and village count the cost
Of all the many lives they lost.

Watched in horror truth to tell
Paradise become a hell.
Still they try to count the dead
Many missing it is said.

Grief too terrible to bear
Bravely trying to repair.
No-one can ever ease their pain
With courage they must start again.

Nature took her toll today
In the form of `TSUNAMI`
