IF ONLY

If only I could tell you
Not in secret,
But aloud,
How much I love you.
I'd love to tell the world
And shout it
From the roof-tops.
I'm so proud.
But yet
I dare not say your name.
A love so right
Can be so wrong
And that's a shame.
If only I could tell you
Instead of dropping hints.
Oh I have loved you
Ever since
The day we met
And knew I shouldn't.
I knew I couldn't.
Yet
Knew I wouldn't
Ever lose that new desire.
Now I each day aspire
To tell.
Oh well.
I can't tell them.
I can tell you.
But I think you always knew
