Life through my window

The window is hidden,
blinds are drawn...
no light is shining through.
Life outside does not exist,
until i want a view.
Blinds are opened,
no light shines through...
morning still so young.
Lights reflect from passing cars,
then slowly from morning sun.
The sky lights up,
darkness fades...
life greets a bright new day.
Birds are singing morning song,
Squirrels start to play.
People walking,
people talking;
Time begins to turn.
I sit and watch as time goes by...
wondering what is learned.
Postman knocks,
letters fall...
I rush to see who wrote.
...another bill or normal junk,
another insurance quote.
The sun is sinking,
colors burn.
The sky is all ablaze.
More people walking,
more people talking,
just passing another day.
Night-time comes,
clouds turn dark,
stars begin to shine.
The clock ticks on its normal course...
and I slowly close the blinds.
