Poetic-Verses-Awakening Spirits and Memories
I love the rain
Some people think I am mental
‘Cos I love the rain
But let me tell you something
Too much sun can be a pain
It burns up the crops
And destroys all in its path
Realise the outcome
Just do the math
No rain, no water,
People, animals and plants die
Such is outcome
When rain stops falling from the sky
Now me, I love the rain
Though others consider it a pain
Splashing down the road
Gurgling down the drain
Walking along
In the quietness of morn
Watching the drops glistening
In sun- drenched dawn
Listening to the sound which
Only rain can make
A loud silence
None can mistake
An atmosphere of peace
Though loud is its sound
Thundering against the window pane
The sounds of pelting rain
You can almost hear the plants
Sighing in relief
Reprieve from the heat
Rain soaking up, now replete
Saturating and feeding the ground
Not something at which to groan
But most people
Like to have a moan!
People don't like the rain
You can't hang out washing
Or sunbathe all day
Or go to the beach and play
It waters the garden
So it looks at its best
Just keep raining
And I'll do the rest
Now don't get me wrong
Cos I do like the sun's rays
But all in moderation
I don't like too many hot days
So send me some rain
But not too often I say
Cos I wouldn't like it
If it rained every day!
So next time it rains
Consider it a blessing
Because without rain
We soon start stressing
Water bans on hosepipes
And car washing is a sin
And start scooping out
Of that waterbutt bin
Saving soapy dish water
To give the plants a drink
Take a shower instead of a bath
So we don't start to stink
And no running taps
When you clean your teeth
Something we're not used to
Don't waste water, good grief!
Yet consider those in Africa
And places such as these
Were water is not a luxury
To use as they please
It is often dirty and germ ridden
And full of disease
Can you imagine drinking it,
Would it put your mind at ease?
Yet thousands do so,
Each and every day
Whilst we waste water
And throw it away
So treasure the rain
And consider it well
If we have a deluge
Or a rainy spell!
