POETRY IN MOTION

FLOWERS

FLOWERS

I've picked a bunch of flowers wild and bright,
Yellow for the sun, white for the moon,
Red for love and purple for delight,
All wrapped up in a leafy green festoon.
For you I picked them though you'll never see,
And you they'll make me think of every day
For I shall wander through my memory
And be transported to another day.
I'll sit and think of how they'd make you smile,
How little things to you meant oh so much.
I'll close my eyes, you'll be here for a while.
The autumn breeze will represent your touch.
I know, like you, one day they'll fade and die.
Today I smile.
Tomorrow I shall cry.

FLOWERS TWO

I saw the bunch of flowers that you picked,
So beautiful they really made my day.
And just like yours, my memory was pricked
To time before I had to come away.
I cannot thank you, you won't hear my voice,
I wish that you could see my happy smile!
I know that if you could you would rejoice,
But we're in sep'rate circles for a while.
I can't join in your daily repertoire,
For you are still in your world, I in mine,
But I go with you everywhere you are
And with your thoughts I constantly entwine.
I saw you pick those flowers just for me.
One day I'll thank you - just you wait and see.
