Dark Corners

From the dark corners of my mind,
creep dreams from another time.
Years and decades have passed
but the horrors of yesterday
continue to last.

Micro flashes backs of…
Bullets, bombs and flares,
death, dying and hollow
stares.

Faces of anguish, pain,
children’s eyes empty
of blame.

Screams still echo in my ears,
as we all cry an ocean of tears
for those who died in those
horrid years.

The war has come and gone,
but those memories still linger on,
and from the dark corners of my mind
those dreams will forever be forlorn.
