POETRY IN MOTION

ISN'T IT A SHAME!

Isn't it a shame that we're alone
When you are there for me, I'm here for you
But age and moss slow down a rolling stone
And distance cuts our would-be world in two.
The poets say that love will find a way
But they just scratch their egos with their quills,
Trot out banal quotations for their pay
And wine and dine on useless daffodils.
If they just knew futility for real,
The longing of two hearts that would be one,
That feeling that you're never going to feel,
The project of a lifetime left undone.
You have the candle, I have got the flame
But there'll be no combustion. What a shame!
