The Tower of Able

                                            The towers of able
                                          P.R.Ramachander
(Written after seeing destruction of the World trade centre.)

Stood they like sentinels,
Kissing the purple sky,
Boasting to the world,
That they are towers of able,
Not towers of Babel.

It was not the different tongues,
But the mad man's harangues,
To his madder people,
That brought down,
These mighty towers,
That boasted to the world.
Of that unity which was not,
In King Solomon's time.

The whole world cried,
To those able bodied who were,
In the tower of able,
On that fateful day,
And promised,
We would build the tower again,
And make this God's world,
Free of these mad zealots for years to come.
