yesterday
A life-time of dreams ago
I walked along cliff's top edge
Raging ocean down below
My heart soared, floating up
Daring to reach out to touch the stars
Bursting out with a happiness from within
It seemed my ribs could barely hold it in
That was yesterday
Yesterday
I knew a happiness I had not known before
I sang with a gladness I had never known
Joyfully I listened to the songs of the birds
The flowers shone in the brightness of sunlight
Touched with a magic only I was shown
Enjoying the walk along the sandy shore
My heart bursting, happy and bright
Today I don't
Yesterday
Such peace I held within my heart
I lived with my mind full of happy dreams
A face of dreamy smiles awaiting so much more
My days were filled with sunshine and awe
Such euphoria
Such madness
But oh what gladness
That too was yesterday
Yesterday
It seemed as though my heart could have flown
My days were filled with beauty,
A gleaming light shone out from deep within
Such was the love I had been shown
Filled with a deep residing joy I had never known
That was yesterday!
