Waking to the sound of the rain,
Tickling soft,
Infiltrating slowly to my sleepy brain!
A warm glow infuses…
As I ponder and muse,
Thinking of wet dog walk, half hour ahead,
When I'd sooner stay cosy in bed!
I love the sound of rain,
As it chuckles down leaf clogged drain,
Spit spattering on tarmac road,
Silvered in droplets clothed!
Rivulets running down to collect,
In a river of undulating black and grey,
Puddles, reflecting dimly,
As sunlight glimmers…!
Listen to the distant roar of traffic,
Sirens howling!
The twitter of tiny birds, awakened with the dawn,
Starlings gathered thickly on the lawn.
Pulling out rain soaked worms,
Great Tit and Blackbirds compete in their song,
Perhaps wishing the rain will not last long!
Tickled my nose!
Picking up faint scent of newly opened rose,
A waft of grass drifts up with the breeze,
Causing me to sneeze!
But there's nothing like waking up to rain in the morning,
To set you stretching and yawning,
Wishing you could stay cuddled deep,
Within cosy warm bed and just go back to sleep!
