I remember when
you would lay beside me
and you would fall asleep
It seems that it's the only time
that I could see you at peace
And I would rub your face
and you would smile
in your sleep
As if you were just released
from all the sadness and pain
and all the burdens in your life
Back then I could feel
the magic in every heart beat
and with every breath you took
I would breathe a breath of fresh air
just knowing you were beside me
and knowing that you knew how much I loved you
All through the night
I would continue to watch you sleep
I would make sure you
were tucked in and warm
with you wrapped up in my arms
and I would feel every heart beat
Thanking God that you were at peace
and free from all your burdens
and touched by heaven.
Sleep little angel sleep
another day is on its way
