Three days of rain

Three days of rain
Written by D.A.M

(At one time or another we all will face a time when mother nature
will remind us of its destructive ways.
Storms and natural distasters have a way of changing our lives forever)

~A Ponygirl Design~

Three day of rain
fell down from the sky
harder then you can imagine
right here in Dallas Texas

But its really amazing
with all the rain that fell from the sky
for three days and how much damage was done

But finally today
we  have all  been blessed
with beautiful blue skies
and not a cloud around for miles

When the rain started

It brought back memories
of a different time
way  back in time
when I was just a teenager

And I can still remember the rain
way back then

Because it came down harder
then you could ever imagine
when I lived in Medan
on the island of Sumatra
in Indonesia

It was really amazing
because it would rain
for days and days on end

The local natives called it the monsoon season

Because when it rained it usually
rained for three straight months

I haven't seen rain like that
until last weekend
when part of the levee broke
at White Rock Lake and many areas that surrounded the lake
were hit hard with flooding

And I just couldn't get over
how many places were flooded
right here in Dallas Texas

Who would ever think
we could experience
anything like this
and yet it did happen

There were some lives that were lost
and homes that were destroyed
and there were many families who were displaced

It's a shame
that mother nature
can be so destructive
and what's even worse
is that this can happen to anyone
any where in the world

We can all look back
at the last few years
Katrina proved that
so did the Tsunami
that changed the way we look
at mother nature
in its most destructive ways

And it changes our lives
forever

And it makes us realize
just how lucky we are to be alive

And for those of us who were
fortunate enough to have survived
and have lived to tell
this story
of the rain that surprised us all in Dallas Texas
in the year of two thousand six

I have a feeling
that in the coming months and years
mother nature will claim
many more lives

So please take some time out
to say some prayers
for everyone in the world
who has had to deal with disasters
and loss of life
through mother natures destructive path

(God bless us all when mother nature
decides to remind us
how precious life really is.)
