Goliath lay a giant brought to earth,
Bewilderment in his unseeing eyes,
A giant stripped of any worldly worth,
A threat unthwarted by his swift demise.
A single stone had done the deadly deed,
Had ridiculed his mighty gleaming sword,
Had shown that faith and hope is all you need
When you have got the backing of the Lord.
The cheers rang out, a hero was proclaimed,
A miracle that no one could deny,
A fallen giant totally unfamed,
A brand-new giant, small but shoulder-high.
When all seems lost, your back against the wall,
Rise up and show them how the mighty fall.
