Sixteen years ago today(This is a true story)
Sixteen years ago today
Written by D.A.M
June 12, 2006 (12:33am)

(This is a true story
and it is very sad
but it does has a positive ending)

Time is forever

yet is never here for long

Only if your clever

You'll treasure it before its gone

Sixteen years ago today
you lost your breath
and your life
and you went away
in an ambulance

They tried to revive you
on the way to the hospital
but  you couldn't' be revived

You didnt even
have a chance
to say goodbye
to me
and every one else who loved you

It really left us
all shook up
and feeling empty inside

But you always said
when it is that time for me to go
that I don't want to suffer
and that  I want it to be quick

You got your wish

Because it all happened
in the blinking of an eye

I am sorry that I didn't get to pay
my last respects to you
when you died

But I am sure
because of
the circumstances
you would understand

Because the doctors
had to prepare you
and they had a time limit to beat

Because you were also a
giver in death

Just like you were in life

You signed your  card
way back in time
that made you a donor
and you carried it with you every day

You were only sixty seven
on that particular Monday
sixteen years ago today

But you always said
if you were to die tomorrow
that you would be a donor
and that you would  give unselfishly
one more time
so that you
could help
someone else
who could benefit
from your giving

And because of your
unconditional ways
lives were changed
for the better.

You didnt smoke
and you didnt drink

And the day that you died
the doctor said
you just died of old age
and that it was from natural causes

But still to this day
there are a couple
of very thankful people
in this world
who don't
even know
your name

And yet they have a part of you
that is still living
within there bodies today

Thanks to your unconditional giving ways

A burn victim has your skin
and a person
who was almost
completely blind
has your eyes now
and they can see.

I will always remember you
when you were alive
and I will always be thankful
for all the years you shared with me

And I will always remember
each and every year
how you always
gave to charity.

Just the way you did
with people
who were in your family
because you were unselfish in every way

And now that you are gone
I will continue to remember you
as an amazing man while you were alive
and an even more
amazing man in death

And I your adopted son
am proud to call you Dad
