Nightlightsky0626 Verses from a Poetic Heart

Flying Time

In front of us all, there is a ticking clock,
reminding us of days long gone.
A youth once given but now taken back again.
A young mind matures from its laughing face.

Familiar smiling faces recalled from the past.
Memories become more of a vivid dream of unreality.
Our memory fades as more time goes by.
Moving time is hurrying so quickly.

Replayed by rewinding its speeding hands.
Chasing us no matter how fast we run or where we turn.
Laughing louder as we grow older.
Closing in around us as it lurches forward.

We cannot stop to rewind, as forward it goes.
No way to halt its turning motions.
Seconds pass, then minutes, then hours, days,
Faster as weeks, months and years soar out of control.

Powerless we are to bring time to a standstill.
The only way to freeze its hands temporarily is
to snap a photograph of our present world.
So many changes from its destructive movements.

As is always in our minds, time moves faster than we do.
It changes every one of us and everything around us.
Enjoy time while you are still able to, before you know it,
It will leave a young person wishing for their youth once again.
