Shadows in the rain

Shadows in the rain
peaked down through
the darkness in the clouds
as raindrops fell
from the sky
and into the wind
and down to the ground
that night
As I looked out my window
and I could see the wind blowing
as I watched in amazement
at the lightening bolts in the sky
while raindrops kept falling
from the clouds in the night
with such a fierce energy
as thunder continued to play a melody
with the shadows in the rain
as raindrops danced
in the tree's
and onto the roof tops
and down onto the streets
At first the shadows in the rain
were a welcoming sight to see
because we really
needed the rain that night
But when the puddles
became small rivers
from the endless rain
that didn't seem
to have an ending in sight
I began to pray
That the shadows in the rain
would go away.
And come back another time.
When we will need
it to return again.
