Go the distance

There will come a time in your life
at one time or another
when your heart will be broken
and all that you can do then
is pray for a miracle
and hope that things can be fixed
It's always hard to let go
of the person that you love
especially when
you never wanted to
and yet you still gave it everything
that you were capable in giving
that was humanly possible
because you were willing
to go the distance
And some how deep inside
you still feel like you have failed
because things
didn't work out
the way that you
hoped and prayed that they would
And then your whole world
is turned upside down
and you really don't know
which way to go anymore
And that's when
you start hurting inside
and the pain begins
to set in
because your heart
has been broken
into a million little pieces
and this is when
you have to try
and put all the broken pieces
back together again
one day at a time
And you keep wishing
and you keep praying
that maybe some day
everything will work out
Yet your thoughts keep
racing through your head
on an uneven ground
This is when
you start asking yourself
why everything had
to happen this way
Then reality sets in
and everything that you
believe in
and everything that
you are accustomed to
is fixing to make
a dramatic change
in your life
Guilt starts to set in
And then you ask yourself
Is this what true love
is all about
and if there really is a way
to work things out
But then you begin
to realize that it takes two
to make the right decision
in order for things
to flow in the right direction
And that's when it starts to hit you
like a nuclear bomb
because every emotional feeling
that you could ever possibly have
inside your heart has been torn apart
and your having mixed emotions
and confusion
starts to set in
and then you blame yourself
for everything that is happening
You start to realize
that you have
lived half of your life
wishing and hoping
and praying every day
that you could have someone beside
you that would love you for an
eternity and never walk away
And then it happens to you
when you least expect it too
and then you don't know what to do
The only thing you can do
is hand your burdens
over to him
and start praying
that maybe some day
the person that you love completely
will never walk away again
In the mean time
all you can do
is leave it
in Gods hands
You can wish
and you can hope
and you can dream
that someone will love you
as much as you love them
in a kind and caring
and passionate way
each and every day
and no matter what storms
you have to face
that you could do it together
Because then you would know
that no matter what
that they would stand beside you
through thick and thin
till the very end
Because they loved
you unconditionally
the same way
that you loved them
in return.
