"It is a waste to travel through life & never have an understanding of it!"
Life's Travels
I travel this long dusty road, so wide and divided,
Adding to my load, sometimes confused and undecided.
I met a beggar who once was a multi-millionaire,
Forgot about poor, spending his selfish treasures…without a care.
I met a rich man who once was destitute and poor,
Forgot where he came from, knocks of the needy, he shut the door.
I met a scholar whose intellect was the challenge of men,
When it came to the simplest matters, his mind was in the wind.
I met an uneducated man, life had no recompense,
Didn't't have the mind of a scholar, life's war wounds,
Left him with much common sense.
I met an intoxicated man, filled with the spirit of bottle,
Let the trials of this world, leave him unfulfilled and hollow.
I looked into his eyes, felt much suffering and unlimited pain,
What he loved most in this world, has washed away in the rain.
I met a humble man who was everybody's footstool,
Unlike this fighting man, standing up himself, nobody's fool.
I met this reasonable man, everything righteous and just,
Unlike the justified man, who use excuses for much.
I met this woman that taught me things like no other,
She taught me about life, Oh! That woman was my mother.
I still have a way to travel on this road with all it's turns and sway,
Still more to add to my load, till life takes it breath away.
