Oh Rosa!

"Finding one's destiny is putting one foot in front of the other"

 Oh Rosa!

Oh Rosa! Wipe that sweat from your brow.
Wondering how did you get where you came from, to where you are now.
Sun in your face, staring down that old dusty road, begging it to take you to anyplace,
Your man is gone, left your behind for another, to endure his disgrace.

Oh Rosa! Wipe that sweat from your brow,
Trying break that hard ground, with that old broken down plow.
It is all on you, can't depend on nobody else,
Got to get out of this barren land, you got to save yourself.

Oh Rosa! Wipe that sweat from your brow,
Hold your head up girl, you will make it somehow.
No money for food, he took what was left in the cookie jar.
Don't know how far his iniquities will take him, but he won't make it far.

Oh Rosa! Wipe that sweat from your brow,
The wells are drying up, you can feel the dust in your mouth.
He brought you to this place full of hope and all those dreams,
He forgot that you two were in this thing together, left you alone and holding the bag, so it seems.

Oh Rosa! Wipe that sweat from your brow,
The farm is not producing, you might as well sell the cow.
There is nothing left for you here, you might as well hit the road,
Just pack-up what you came here with, time to carry your own load.

Oh Rosa! Wipe that sweat from your brow,
He was a wolf in sheep's clothing, who turned your smile into a frown.
He took you from loving arms and brought you to this desolate place,
Oh Rosa, that is not sweat, but tears streaming down your face.

Oh Rosa! Wipe that sweat from your brow,
The rain is gone and away goes the clouds.
The sun's ray are beaming down on your back,
But you have the resilience of a queen, that other's lack.

Oh Rosa! Wipe that sweat from your brow,
Planning to strike out walking? Will it be north or south?
Better stand to the side of the road and stick out a leg,
Your desire is to leave this place, see what you can borrow, you might have to beg.

Oh Rosa! Wipe that sweat from your brow,
The sweet taste of this love affair went bitter, now your thoughts have soured.
No more far away dreams, broken and empty promises,
Need help with those bags? It's time to leave the premises.

Oh Rosa! Wipe that sweat from your brow,
The sun is low on the horizon, it is close to the hour.
I know that you are afraid of the road that you must choose,
But you have nothing left to stay here for; You have nothing to lose.

Oh Rosa! Wipe that sweat from your brow,
Starting life over alone is scary, but you got to get going, before darkness close you out.
Start walking, one foot in front of the other and don't look back,
Cause the trees has swallowed the road behind you, and the way home has turned black.

Oh Rosa! Wipe that sweat from your brow,
That life is behind you, I know that you feel good girl, you should be proud.
Things are already changing, you are ready to take control of your life,
Next time check out his credentials, before you say "I DO" and become someone else's  Wife.
