A red flag waves violently out on the high seas bearing a skull and crossbones.
The movement of the ocean waves their ship to and fro.
The captain calls out to his crew, "Arghh our booty be just ahead lads!"
"The island shaped like death, that is where she be."
The crew scrambles about trying to keep the ship under control as they steer to where the treasure is buried deep in the sand.
The captain stands on the deck of the pirate ship with his silvery covered teeth, a wooden peg for a leg, a black patch covering his left eye, and a brown hat shaped in a wide "V" upon his blackened head.
His ebony eyes stare intently at the island wavering in the distance. A mist of ocean sprays his dirty face as he basks in the glory of the bright sunshine from above.
He barks more orders to his crew as they draw nearer to the island, "Ahoy mateys there she be, our hard earned treasure." Only the first mate knows to whom the treasure really is going to belong to. He smiles a handsome smile as best as he can and helps the captain off the ship and into the smaller boat that they need to take to get them to the island without their ship becoming beached.
"Foll'r me as I lead us to our treasure; where be my map?"
"Here it be captain!!" says one of the crew.
"Thank ye matey!!" he says as a look of deciet crosses his face.
"10 paces north, 50 paces east, 5 paces northeast by that tree o'er there be our "X""
"Dig mateys dig!! Arghh there be our treasure boys let us bring it to light. Rich we will be, ne'er to be poor no more!!"
They open up the trunk, inside there lies gold coins, pearls, rubies, diamonds, emeralds and many pieces of real silver tarnished by their long storage in the chest.
The captain takes one look at his crew mates and envisions death and greed in their faces. He goes off alone to contemplate the death of them.
One by one he calls them to the smaller boat and proceeds to put them to death by the sword. His first mate follows suit.
Eighteen men lost their lives that day, eight men were preserved alive because of their integrity and trust by the captain. Now only ten men share the booty of a pirate's adventure.
Rich they be, but at what cost? Mistrust can lead us to do things that are not normally within our nature. Makes you think if we possess a pirate's mind?
