There within the deepest sector of my distant soul,
lie the secret yearnings of this restless heart.
Confined in a tiny space somewhere behind logic,
squashed and compressed, alone and set apart.
There are barricades and an endless array,
of dead ends and mazes hiding the tender side.
Here within the safe area which I have built,
I will fortify and my soul will ever abide.
No cruel words, chaos, those hurtful moments,
can destroy the haven where my heart lies.
I am not cold or insensitive, but I have learned,
love can live, but it also dies.
Here within the deepest sector of my distant soul,
I will dwell here I have no desire to ever go.
The heart is present yet it tarries here asleep,
until the day true love is what I know.
