 Why Is The Photograph Blurred?

Now that the doctor was dead,
there was nobody left to say,
why they had locked her away.

What had happened back then?
25th of April 1933.
Why wouldn't anyone heed the warning?

Couldn't they see what was happening?
Didn't they sense the fear?
Was it really so terrible?
Why is the photograph blurred?

The grave where the priest is buried,
is neglected now.
Overgrown and unkempt.
No one has visited it for years,
nobody really cares.

Tissue-paper lining the drawers,
where her clothes are stored.
Shoes polished and all lined up,
hair tied neatly back.

Soft laughter echoing down the hallway,
from behind the locked door.
Tap drip, drip, dripping in the kitchen.
Faded newspaper on a dusty floor.

Dog whining in the courtyard,
what was that sound I heard?
Secret smile,
she kept her promise.
Why is the photograph blurred?
