As close as my next prayer

In my youth I was mislead
by my foolish decisions
And many times
I had stumbled
and I had fallen
because of
my actions
On many occasions
I had
stepped into
the arena of fools
I didn't even
realize it at the time
that I was actually
being surrounded by
a pack of wolves
in the devils den
and they were all
out to destroy
me on any given day
And this was when
I began to discover
that I truly had
angels on my side
Because some how
they have always managed
to keep me alive
when I should have died
And yet
I am still here
and very much alive
The dear Lord
has protected me
through the years
and has had a hand
in my survival
And at this point
in my life
I try not to make
the same mistakes
that I used to make
like I did when
I was younger
And now that
I am older
and wiser
I have become
a better person
All because of the
Lords lessons
I have grown
from the wisdom
of his words
and I have
gradually changed
one day at a time
I have to admit
I still have a
long way to go
but through his
guidance and
from the lessons
that he has taught
me in my life
I know that
I will eventually
become more like him
Because the Lord
created me from dust
and through time he
has molded me like clay
And I know
that the Lord
will continue to
guide me
and to teach me
so that I may
become a better
person today
and every day
from his guidance
Because the Lord
always will be
as close as
my next prayer
so I am thankful
in every way
