I cant help but watch you
when you sleep
and even that is more awake
than I was when I lost myself to jealousy -
I tried hard to control the situation
and you
but you said there was freedom in flight
I've never been one for pigeons
but she landed anyway
and as much as you don't like birds
you fed her, still
and kept her shacked up
in your nest
for a few days -
I tried to escape
I stood as high as her flight
