The land of the free( This is a poem about the twin towers and it's history)
The land of the free

The Twin towers sat
on sixteen acre's of land
and they were
constructed and operated
by the port authority
and they were also built
in a time of uncertainty
David and Nelson Rockefeller
thought the twin towers
would restore
lower Manhattan
and also rebuild the economy
But in order for there
dream to come true
one hundred and sixty buildings
would have to be destroyed
next to the Hudson river
in lower Manhattan
And many lives
would be uprooted
because father time
had a change of plans
and the future was upon us
In nineteen seventy three
the towers were the
tallest buildings in the world
But that was short lived
On any given day
fifty thousand people
worked in the towers
and another two hundred thousand
people visited the towers every day
In nineteen ninety three
the whole world was shook up
because terrorists
brought a truck into the lower garage
of the world trade center
with one thousand one hundred
pounds full of explosives
because they wanted
to make a statement to the world
and they succeeded
But I have always asked myself
couldn't better communications
have prevented all of this from happening
in the first place
But questions still linger in my mind
and they always will
Because each and every one of us
want to know
why something so horrendous
could happen in the first place
right here on our own native soil
Six people died that day
and a thousand others were injured
And the questions still lingers in my mind
what were the reason behind these attacks
and will we ever have answers
The whole world was dumb founded
by these atrocities that took place
But yet the twin towers
wouldn't fall this time around
And they were restored
and they were reopened
after a month of repairs
And everyone was assured
that security would
take care of everything
So that something like this
would never happen again
so they reopened there doors
Years went by
and nothing else happened
and everyone began
to feel secure again
on there own native land
And I think this is when
there guard started coming down
when it came to security
and they became more relaxed
because they thought
what happened on that day
would never happen again
And they never would
have ever imagined
that a second attempt
would ever happen
due to the previous failure
But on nine eleven of two thousand and one
our nation was taken by surprise
and this time around fear
was instilled in every ones lives
while they were watching there televisions
as they were drinking there coffee
preparing for just another day at work
On that day we as a nation
and as a world
could see that this time around
that the towers would fall down
on our native soil
Two thousand eight hundred
and twenty four peoples
lives were destroyed that day
in the blinking of an eye
in the towers that day
And many families
were left without there loved ones
because they had past away
in a land that we call free
The statue of liberty still stands high
and we are still the land of the free
But because of that
unfaithful event that took place
on the twin towers that day
many of the freedoms
that we were accustomed to
were taken away
My question
to each and everyone of you
is why did we as a nation
allow something so devastating
to take place
on our own land
in the first place
and what were
the reasons behind it
My prayers go out
to all the victims
and to the families
who lost there loved ones
on that unfaithful day
Not just in the towers
but in the pentagon too
And I can only pray
that something of this magnitude
will never invade our soil again
Because we are the land of the free
And we always will be
God bless America
and God bless
our united forces
for protecting our country
so that our nation
can continue to be free.
