 Waiting out the storm(Uplifting)

Waiting out the storm

I was awakened to
the sounds of a storm
in the early morning hours
listening to the roaring
sounds of thunder
as lightening
lit up the skies
and rain kept pouring
down on the ground

As I looked through my foggy  window
the rain looked like it was dancing
through the roaring winds
and you could look up into the trees
and also down in the bushes
and see all the creatures  were in hiding
seeking refuge from the wild escapades of the storm

The squirrels were
the smart ones
because they could sense
a storm was close by
and when it finally did arrive
they were already settled in
and hiding underground
escaping the rain
and the destructive winds
as they and all
the other creatures
were also waiting out the storm
looking for a glimpse of sunshine
peaking through the clouds
laced with beautiful radiant
colors in the skies
of blue's and purple's
and greens and yellows
patiently waiting
for a rainbow to appear

Because this is when they would know
that peace and serenity has returned
so all the squirrels
and all the other creatures
can go back out and play again
under the radiant beauty of the sun
as it starts shining through one more time
