In Memory Of My Father On Fathers Day

Fourteen years have gone by
since you went to Heaven that day
And I realize that even though
you aren't here in body
that your spirit
still surrounds me every day.
I have so many fond
memories of you
when I was growing up as a child with you
But the one thing
that still lingers in my mind
way back then was
when I was around
ten years of age
All of us as a family
would gather round
and we would all pitch in together
and we would make home made ice cream
It was a lot of work to make ice cream
but boy when it was done
we were all happy as can be
to enjoy a nice cold dip of ice cream
that was all home made together as a family
There are so many other fond memories too
How about the times when we used to
go fishing when
I was a young boy
around three or four
and you introduced me to
fishing off the pier
I sure do cherish those fond memories
with you and my first
experience going fishing with you
There were so many other memories
that I can remember as a chid too
Remember the days when you would have to be away
from home because of your job
and you would have to be away for weeks at a time
And then you would finally come home.
I was a small child back then
but I sure was so anxious
and I was always looking out the window
to see when you would walk through the gate
and then you would walk
through the front door into the house
And that's when I would jump up
and you would catch me and give me a big old hug.
I was so excited to see you
and to know that you were back home
with Mom and all us
There were so many fond memories
that we shared in our lives together
And I just want you to know
even though you are in Heaven now
That I will always be thankful
for all the years of your unconditional love
And no matter what
you will always remain
alive in my heart
as long as I live
God bless you Dad
and Happy Fathers day
I hope that Jesus will
give you a big hug from me today
