Frozen in Time

Ancient dust collects on a pair of worn combat boots,
a uniform now two sizes too small hangs on the
attic wall.

Decades have quickly passed…
yet he lives in  yesterdays’ shadowed time.
His thoughts no longer make
sense are rhyme.

In a split jungle second his life changed forever…
a soldier he was and a soldier he will always be…
for him time stands still, you see.

In his crippled mind that jungle time repeats
its self over and over and over again.

He’s fighting a war that he can never win,
over and over again.

Frozen in time…
this soldier’s damaged mind.
