Early this morning
as I was walking out
my front door
I looked up in my tree
as I do every morning
and I could hear
two cardinals singing
I started looking around
and I could finally see
that one was a male
and the other
was a female
First the male appeared
through the brush
in the tree
and then I looked around
and the female showed up
right behind him
and my heart
started pounding
I watched in amazement
at there beauty
as they delicately
moved around
from limb to limb
through the leaves in the tree
And then they flew away
to find another
tree to sing in
Honestly it took me a life time
to see two cardinals together
at the same time
Hopefully some day really soon
the baby cardinals wont be far behind
Maybe they will come back
to visit me again soon
with a whole new family
so that they can all sing for me
up in my tree with a spring time melody
