Poetry For Everyone

Banner Mountain

We came here from a place far away.
A state that had no work;but,the children had a safe place to play!
We were looking for a place to call home.
We were tired of looking and the journey we had to roam!
We were free like the birds;but,wanted to settle down,
looking for the comfort of a small hometown!
Many friendly people were in this county;
but,nobody in particular that I wanted to see!
We met many people on this mountain we soon called home.
We took a forest and made it our castle from sand!
 Oh the blood and callouses we had on our hands,
it was all the hard work that our bodies could withstand!
 The deer,turkey,and birds made it a wonderful sight!
We also enjoyed the sounds of the whip-a-whills at night!
My children grew up on this mountain we called home.
We will never forget the memories that helped us write this poem.

 Banner Mountain - close to Shirley, Arkansas is a beautiful place to be.
