Poems From The Heart

My Mission

I am laying here in this empty room
And all I can do is think of you.
I don't know why my mind continuously lingers,
That's just what it tends to do.
I wonder if I cross your mind
As many times as you cross mine
And if I journeyed inside your head
I wonder what I'd find.
Sometimes I'm afraid of what will happen next
And that fear leads me to second-guess
But then when I come back to reality
I continue on my quest.
I am on a mission…
Well, that's its chosen name
Because I love you dearly
And I want your feelings to be the same.
I don't know how I will go about it
Or even how long it will take
I only know that if I let you slip away
Without trying, it would be a mistake.
You see my friend, I need you.
You help me to survive.
And when you're not around me,
I'm actually not alive.
I'm in this sort of "Limbo".
Waiting for you to come back to me
And however long it is you take,
You're still the only one who can set me free.
I've somehow become dependent on you
You are the keeper of my soul.
Plus my body, mind, and heart
Therefore, you have complete control…
I just hope you don't abuse your authority
Because even though it is under your belt.
I don't want to be treated like some doll
That you choose to take off or put on a shelf.
I don't know where this is going to take me
Because for now I'm just going with the flow
You are the HNIC, so you set the pace.
Baby do you want it fast or slow?
I know that I am doing the "right" thing
I just don't know if it is smart
I guess that is the price that I have to pay
For ALWAYS following my heart.
